52+ Popular Water Flossers Tested By Our Local Tech Expert. The Winner May Surprise You.
Updated September, 2022.
Are you sick of bleeding gums from traditional flossing? Want to save precious time every day while keeping great dental hygiene and fresh breath?
There’s probably not a single person who hasn’t been told to floss more by their dentist, but this is the 21st century and we’ve moved past those boring bits of string and on to a more modern solution called water flossing.
Water flossers have exploded in popularity in recent years. They basically act like a power washer for your mouth that leaves your teeth with that super-clean just left the dentist feeling.
The demand for such a convenient oral hygiene device has lead to companies flooding the markets with their own ‘best’ water flosser.
That is why we decided to test over 52 of the most popular water flossers in 2022 and rank them on based on how effective they were at cleaning, how comfortable they were to use and their value for money.
Our testing revealed that paying extra for big brand models was often a waste of money as they didn’t perform significantly better than more affordable devices.
To our surprise, our test winner was actually created by a smaller start up company that managed to beat the competition in almost every aspect.
Here’s the list of our top 5 water flosser picks for 2022, with a full review of our #1 choice at the bottom of the page.

The Water Pulse flosser can remove up to 99.9% of plaque in hard to reach places in a fraction of the time when compared to traditional flossing. It’s a convenient, pain-free method of fighting the build up of plaque, bacteria and bad breath.
UPDATE 15th September: Due to frequent media coverage and high consumer demand, Water Pulse is currently sold out in retail stores nationwide. However, it may still be available on their online website HERE.
I haven’t met a single person who likes going to the dentist in my life. It’s always so uncomfortable, painful and expensive.
“If you floss consistently, you won’t need to go to the dentist as much!” I’ve heard these sort of lines my entire life.
Like most people, I know the benefits of flossing but every time I try it, it ends badly for me. I have pretty sensitive gums and flossing always leads to bleeding and discomfort that I’d prefer to avoid. Not to mention it takes forever to do it properly!
When I first heard about water flossers and oral irrigators, I have to admit I was pretty excited. The idea that you could just direct pressurised water into your mouth and clean all the hard to reach areas in a couple of minutes sounded amazing.
One of the most popular products that I read about was called the Water Pulse Flosser, and with thousands of positive reviews boasting about it’s effectiveness, I had to give a shot.
The Water Pulse Flosser arrived a few days after ordering so things were already off to a good start.
Upon opening the package I was immediately impressed. The design and shape of the water flosser made it look like a very high end expensive model.
When I held it in my hand it had a bit of weight to it. Some of the other models that I used in the past felt like some plastic toy you would get for your kid rather than a real oral hygiene device. Water Pulse on the other hand seemed more like a professional device you would at a dentist’s office.
Overall I think we’ve all experienced the difference of a cheap or brittle product and a high quality one, whether its sunglasses, clothes or shoes… well water flossers are no different and this one felt and looked amazing.
Now it was time to setup and test the Water Pulse Teeth Cleaner. As per the instructions, I had already charged the device (it lasts 1 week + on 1 charge) and filled it up with warm water.
I inserted the nozzle jet in to the device and powered it on. As I was holding it in my hand I immediately noticed that I had a very firm and comfortable grip on it. Other water flossers I had tested often slipped out of my hand and had a more cramped grip, but not the Water Pulse.
The instructions said to start on the lowest intensity level if you had sensitive teeth , so I picked that one and got to work. My first impression of the feeling was amazing. The water pressure was strong yet gentle and it felt like a kind of massage on gums as opposed to the discomfort I felt when flossing with string.
For the sake of testing, I tried the other two settings; medium and high. Once again I felt zero pain or discomfort when using it, even with the higher levels of pressure. Previous to using the Water Pulse, I could barely even handle the lowest setting of other water flossing devices!
I got through all these tests with no pain or gum bleeding and instead felt a nice sensation from the water pressure.
The 360° jet nozzle allowed me to get into all the hard to reach areas in between my teeth that I wouldn’t usually be able to do. I had steak for lunch and I saw small debris of food falling out of my teeth. This may sound disgusting to write about, but the idea that that left over food would be rotting in my mouth for the next few days is even worse!
The water reservoir lasts for a full session (1 minute) before you have to refill it unlike some other models I had tested. It was clear that the team at Water Pulse had corrected a lot of issues that big brands previously over looked and I was more than happy to see it.
After about a minute, I had finished using the Water Pulse flosser and the results were unbelievable! My mouth felt so clean and fresh like I had just been to the dentist… and I hadn’t even brushed my teeth yet!
At the time of writing this review, I have used the Water Pulse Flosser for over a month with wonderful results. It only takes me 1 minute extra in the morning and evening which is easily worth the time in order to improve my gum health, teeth health and avoid bad breath.
I even visited my dentist just to get an opinion from a professional. For the first time in years she was impressed by my dental hygiene and how my gums were less irritated and swollen. She asked if I finally started flossing and I just told her about the new water flosser I was using. She was so curious she even asked me where to buy one so she could test it her self! The theory still stands, even dentists hate regular string flossing.
Overall, I have definitely made Water Pulse Flosser a staple in my oral hygiene routine. Nothing is truly going to replace professional dental care but this sure helps and I would recommend it to everybody with a minute of time to spare!
After testing over 52 different water flossers , Water Pulse Flosser out performed the competition in many aspects. Here are some of the amazing features that stood out:
🗹 Wireless & Portable – You can use the Water Pulse Flosser without any annoying cords getting in the way.
🗹 Works With Braces, Crowns etc. – Water Pulse works extremely well for people with braces or other dental implants as the water stream can get into places string cannot.
🗹 Superior Plaque Removal – Removing 99.99% of plaque from the teeth makes this product far better than most on the market.
🗹 Healthier Gums – Water flossing is proven to be up to 50% more effective for improving gum health vs string flossing.
🗹 Multiple Intensity Settings – Water Pulse has 3 pressure settings : low, medium and high to suit your individual needs.
🗹 Ergonomic Design – Compared to other water flossers, Water Pulse was the most comfortable and easy to grip device to use.
🗹 360° Jet Nozzle – Gets into all the hard to reach areas for the most effective clean.
So far, Water Pulse has sold multiple thousands of units directly to consumers. It’s has been selling out every time they re-stock, it’s become THAT popular.
All of the success can be attributed to word of mouth referrals. People like you and I are loving it so much they’re posting about it on social media.
Here are some posts we found online.
It’s clear that the Water Pulse is developing a cult like following on social media!
With the rise in popularity, our readers have emailed us many questions about this water flosser. We’ve picked some of the common questions and answered them using objective tests. Here are some of them:
The Water Pulse flosser has an inbuilt rechargeable battery which you can charge using the included cord. It takes 4 hours to charge to full battery.
1 Charge usually lasts around 1 week of use time.
It takes just 1 minute twice per day to achieve optimal results from water flossing, so it’s perfect if you live a busy life!
Normally, top tier quality water flossers go for between £100-200+, so one would expect the Water Pulse to be in this price range as well.
Normally, Water Pulse sells for £159, however the founders for the company are doing everything to keep their prices affordable to consumers and have recently announced a limited time 50% off sale bringing the price down to just £79 on their online site!
It’s certainly a small price to pay to keep your teeth and gums healthier than ever!
The big name brands spend billions on fancy advertising (e.g. $6.5 Million for a 30 sec SuperBowl Ad). Guess who’s paying for that in the end? The customer!
Instead, Water Pulse doesn’t run many ads and instead relies on word of mouth referral sales from their customers. That and selling mostly through their online store allowed them to keep costs lower than the competition.
Everyone who has tested the Water Pulse unanimously agrees; this is a must have device for anyone who wants to reduce plaque build up, bad breath and gum bleeding from regular string flossing.
If you’re thinking of getting one, we suggest taking advantage of the 50% off introductory discount before it runs out.
If you’re still on the fence, Water Pulse has a 30 day money back guarantee (no questions asked) meaning that you could always buy one and return if if you don’t like it.
